Best Minnesota Wedding Venues

As a photographer, I have visited many places designed to hold a large capacity of people for a formal event. With hundreds of weddings under my belt, here are my favorite Minnesota wedding venues because of their accommodations, staff & organization, beauty and scenery. As a photographer, these are also aesthetically pleasing venues that I love to capture & edit. They have gorgeous backdrops and offer pretty indoor areas as well. All around, 10 favorite venues in Minnesota, and in no particular order:

Grand Superior Lodge, Two Harbors, MN. This venue is amazing for a couple who wants to make a weekend of their wedding. Nearby the resort, there’s Rustic Pies, which is a popular dessert vendor for many couples, Gooseberry falls, which is less that 5 minutes away, great for photos or a hike, and Two Harbors, which has a golf course, a variety of restaurants/bars, and plenty of tourist attractions worth checking out! The space is a cross between Northern Minnesota rustic with modern touches. The ballroom, which holds 180 people seated, has huge windows overlooking the shore. The biggest bonus about renting the venue has to be the outdoor space it comes with, the patio is brick with a large wooden arch, which is where wedding ceremonies take place. Throughout the evening the space is used for cocktail hour, bonfires, yard games, and of course exploring the shore of Lake Superior. From the event manager: “A few things I would love to note would be we have this beautiful beach house, which is the closest to the lake anyone can stay on the North Shore!  Many couples will rent is out for their wedding weekend and use it as a honeymoon stay as well. Our lodge also has an awesome bar, along with two great restaurants, giving you and your guests plenty of options for food and drinks. We also have a rock (I know funny, of course we have rocks) that is a popular spot to take pictures day of, with the right angle is makes it look like the couple is floating on top of the lake.”

The outdoor spaces are perfect for cocktail hour and they have bright + beautiful on-site lodging. The grain bins are a one-of-a-kind experience that couples can give to their guests! And the farmhouse is equipped with 11 bedrooms + 10 bathrooms! Crazy! Gathered Oaks has separate getting ready spaces for both him & her, plenty of windows, and a phenomenal staff. Other grerat attractions in Alexandria include Ida Graves craft cocktails, Carlos Creek Winery, golf at the esteemed Alexandria Golf Club, swimming at Pilgrim Point, and Gathered Oaks’ own Monday night wood fired pizza + live music nights in the summer, if you want to extend your stay!
